Supporting the Implementation of the Independent Learning Curriculum, Polibatam Informatics Engineering Department Provides a Service for Making Learning Videos

POLIBATAM-The Polibatam Informatics Engineering Department’s Community Service Team held a “Making Learning Video” workshop on Saturday, 21 October 2023, for Al-Jabar Madrasah teachers, Bengkong, Batam City. Using learning media by utilizing technology is essential in implementing the independent learning curriculum to increase the teaching and learning experience to be more varied.

This activity is a series of several Community Service activities, including assistance in making three learning videos, which are being worked on by the PBL team of the 3rd-semester students of the Multimedia Engineering Study Program.

This workshop activity aims to provide teachers with understanding and experience regarding designing and making simple learning videos using the Canva application. The mentor for this workshop is one of the lecturers in the Informatics Engineering Department, namely Amirul Mu’minin, S.Ds, M.Ds. This workshop activity was attended by 24 participants, including teachers from RA, MI, MTs, and MA levels.

This community service program does not stop until the workshop is finished. It continues with intensive assistance so the participants can produce simple learning video output, which can later be implemented in their respective classes.

The service team hopes that this workshop and mentoring activities can encourage and motivate teachers to create simple learning videos independently that suit the needs and character of each student. Various tricks and stages of video making are presented in this workshop. The participants also looked enthusiastic during the practice and question and answer session with the presenters.

Maya, a representative from Madrasah Al Jabar, said that this series of service activities is instrumental. She hopes this workshop can be the first step for participants to design and create learning videos relevant to students.

“This service can support the implementation of the independent curriculum in each school. “Apart from that, it is hoped that the collaboration between Polibatam and Madrasah Al Jabar will not only end here but can be maintained sustainably through other activities in the future,” said Maya.

Hopefully, with this service, the participants can create more exciting teaching materials to convey to students.
