Polibatam SDGs Team Introduces Compost Processing from an Early Age to SDIT Ulil Albab Students

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam welcomed an educational visit from SDIT Ulil Albab Batam on Thursday, May 21, 2026. The visit was part of a contextual learning activity aimed at broadening students’ knowledge and providing them with direct learning experiences in a vocational higher education environment. Carrying the theme “Contextual Learning on Coding, Mathematics, and IPAS,” the program was designed to introduce students to the real-life application of science and technology.

The visit was attended by 118 fifth-grade students accompanied by 6 teachers. During the activity, the students were introduced to various applied learning fields, including technology, robotics, mathematics, coding, and environmental awareness through organic waste management.

One of the main agendas was a visit to the Polibatam Robotics Laboratory. In this session, students gained an engaging learning experience by exploring how robotics can be used as a medium for learning mathematics, particularly in understanding the concepts of plane shapes and angles. The students were also introduced to basic programming or coding in a simple and interactive way, helping them understand how technology works through instructions, patterns, and logical thinking.

In addition to learning about technology, the students also visited the Polibatam Compost Processing Unit. Through this activity, the Polibatam SDGs Team introduced the process of converting organic waste into compost. The students learned about the importance of waste sorting, organic waste management, and maintaining ecosystem balance as part of their IPAS learning materials.

This activity reflects Polibatam’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of quality education, responsible consumption and production, and environmental action. Through this educational visit, Polibatam hopes to inspire young learners to develop both technological insight and environmental awareness from an early age.

With an enjoyable and practical learning approach, the visit from SDIT Ulil Albab Batam is expected to become a meaningful experience for students in understanding that science, technology, and environmental care can go hand in hand in creating a better future.

Warm regards from Polibatam!
