Polibatam Strengthens Negotiation Skills of Faculty and Staff through In-House Training on the Psychology of Subconscious Communication

BATAM — Batam State Polytechnic (Polibatam) held an in-house training titled “Improving Negotiation Effectiveness through the Psychology of Subconscious Communication” on Tuesday, 20 October 2026. Organized in collaboration with Akademi Trainer, the training was attended by Polibatam faculty members and administrative staff at the Second-Floor Auditorium.

The training featured Dr. Syukur Abdullah, M.M. as the speaker. Polibatam Vice Director II, Arniati, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CPA., expressed her hope that the session would strengthen participants’ communication and negotiation skills to support coordination and cooperation across campus.

The training highlighted the role of communication in negotiation. Conveying messages clearly, listening attentively, and understanding the other party’s needs are essential to reaching a shared understanding. These skills can support faculty members and administrative staff in coordinating their work and interacting with various stakeholders.

To help participants apply the material, the session included practical exercises and interactive games. In one activity, participants practiced communicating with a client, listening to the information provided, and identifying the client’s needs or requests. The simulation encouraged them to listen carefully and gather relevant information before responding.

Active participation made the training more engaging. Door prizes provided by Polibatam added to the lively atmosphere and complemented a program that combined presentations with interactive activities.

Through this training, Polibatam encouraged faculty members and administrative staff to develop communication skills that they can apply in their daily work. The ability to understand others, express ideas, and build common ground is expected to contribute to stronger coordination and collaboration across the campus community.
