Uuf Brajawidagda Leads MKI in Riau Islands Region, PLN Director as Supervisory Board

NEWS-The management of the Indonesian Electricity Society/Masyarakat Ketenagalistrikan Indonesia (MKI) for the Riau Islands (Kepri) was inaugurated by the Secretary General of the Central MKI, Andri Doni, at the inauguration ceremony held at the Aeorotechno Building, Politeknik Negeri Batam, on Wednesday (19/10/2022) afternoon. Meanwhile, the handover of the plaque was given by the Deputy Chairperson II of the Central MKI, Samsul Huda.

In the composition of the MKI management in the Riau Islands region from 2022 to 2026, the Chairperson, Uuf Brajawidagda, Ph.D.; Deputy Chairperson I, Abdul Muluk Malatua, S.ST.; Deputy Chairperson II, Ir. Muhammad Irsyam, S.T., M.SI., IPM.; General Secretary, Ahmad Syauki, S.T., M.T.; Deputy General Secretary, Dr.Eng. Amsarullah Lawi; Treasurer, Hamidi Hamid, S.T., M.BA.; Deputy Treasurer I, Welly Sugianto, M.M.; and Deputy Treasurer II, Januar Arif Kurniawan, S.E., M.M.

The chairperson of the Central MKI, Wiluyo Kusdwihatmo, who was present online, said that the inauguration and inauguration of the MKI for the 2022-2026 period was expected to foster collaboration and provide input on government policies and all stakeholders.

“MKI is also expected to be able to color and provide input and advice to all stakeholders in the Riau Islands in terms of electricity. As a forum for stakeholders in the electricity sector, MKI has existed since September 3, 1998, has been active and has contributed to the government in providing input in the preparation of laws and regulations related to the electricity sector,” explained Wiluyo in his speech.

In a similar vein to Wiluyo, the elected Chairperson of the Riau Islands MKI Management, Uuf Brajawidagda, expressed his gratitude for the support of all stakeholders so that the Riau Islands MKI could be formed.

“This is a mandate that we will carry out together. We ask for support from all stakeholders, in this case, the Riau Islands Provincial Government, Batam City Government, PLN Batam, Associations, and all administrators. Hopefully, we can build a relationship and partner with stakeholders,” said Uuf who is also the Director of Politeknik Negeri Batam.

President Director of PT PLN Batam, Muhammad Irwansyah Putra, as the Supervisory Board believes that with the wide and comprehensive scope of MKI membership, he believes the establishment of MKI in the Riau Islands region will bring many positive impacts to all partners. This is especially in providing input and broad and quality views, covering aspects of technology, business, and regulations for the realization of an efficient, transparent, reliable, and resilient electricity industry.

“In 2022, Batam is like being reborn and rising again. Departing from Batam’s increasing economic growth, Batam’s electricity growth has also increased. As of September 2022, electricity sales growth has touched 15.46%. It can be said that the electricity growth in Batam is one of the highest in Indonesia,” said Irwan. “Hopefully the MKI in the Riau Islands region can help PT PLN Batam in increasing reliability, developing electricity, and continuing to provide the best service to customers so that development continues to grow for improving people’s welfare,” he concluded.

Also attending on behalf of the Mayor of Batam, the Regional Secretary of Batam City, Jefridin Hamid, also congratulated the elected members of the Riau Islands MKI, hopefully, they can add to their worship, because electricity is very important, especially in Batam. The MKI was formed so that electricity in Batam and Riau Islands would be even better.

“Batam and Riau Islands are the west door that becomes a storefront with neighboring countries. May the trust and success always go to the elected Riau Islands MKI management,” he said. Batam City Government has contributed to reducing carbon emissions, all offices have used LED lights to save electricity usage, and other efforts in using environmentally friendly energy.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Riau Islands Energy and Mineral Resources Office, Muhamad Darwin, conveyed the challenges faced to date, including that there are still many inhabited islands in the Riau Islands that do not have electricity 24 hours a day, some 12 hours, some 7 hours and some still not at all. There are also islanders providing electricity independently.

“We hope that with the presence of MKI, it is hoped that it can provide ideas or breakthroughs and even solutions to encourage electricity to be flowed to these islands. Congratulations to the Riau Islands MKI Management, hopefully they can serve the Riau Islands, “concluded Darwin.
