Three Polibatam Students Successfully Participate in the IISMA Program 2023, Enjoy Academic Life at Coventry University, England
POLIBATAM-Three Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) students, Ricci Tua Gultom, Arwin Hanif Raihan, and Albertus Marsel Pirindia Situmorang, enjoyed an extraordinary academic experience at Coventry University through the Indonesian International Student Mobility Award (IISMA) 2023.
Ricci Tua Gultom, a student of the Batam State Polytechnic Cyber Security Engineering Study Program, shared his positive impressions about his academic journey. As an IISMA awardee, he was able to explore Machine Learning and Security and Compliance in the Cloud courses in the IT General field at Coventry University. Under the guidance of Prof. Benny Tjahjono, Professor of Sustainability and Supply Chain Management at the Center for Business in Society (CBiS), the awardee gained extensive academic experience and visits to well-known industries.
Learning methods at Coventry University provide an interesting difference for Ricci. Students are encouraged to have active discussions with lecturers who provide material and explain it during class. Practical exercises also help in completing coursework, and assessments are based on coursework results.
The experience of Arwin Hanif Raihan, a D3 Mechanical Engineering Study Program student, is also interesting. For Arwin, becoming an IISMA awardee at Coventry University is “a dream come true.” Coventry University, as a leading destination for international students, provides opportunities to hone academic skills and explore a multicultural learning environment.
Albertus Marsel Pirindia Situmorang, a student of the D4 Mechatronics Engineering Study Program, felt extraordinary happiness when he got the golden opportunity as an IISMA Awardee at Coventry University in the United Kingdom. Together with other students, he explored learning experiences in a multicultural and academic environment.
The awardees also really appreciated the Industrial Visit organized by the university. Visits to leading companies such as DHL, JCB, Google, Triumph, Mini, and Arsenal provide direct insight into the collection and use of data by these companies. Each industrial visit involves students compiling an analysis report on the use of the ‘voice of the customer’ by the company.
Albertus Marsel Pirindia Situmorang also expressed his admiration for the extraordinary experiences during industrial visits to world-class companies. Visits to JCB, DHL, Google, and Triumph provide a first-hand understanding of how these companies manage consumer voice to improve the quality of their products and services.
The special opportunity achieved by Ricci Tua Gultom, Arwin Hanif Raihan, and Albertus Marsel Pirindia Situmorang through IISMA at Coventry University has given them more than just academic experience.
