Tax Center and Politeknik Negeri Batam Students Achieve Best Ranking in the Program of Tax Volunteer for the Country (Renjani) from the Central Directorate General of Taxation (DGT)

POLIBATAM-Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) Tax Center won the program achievement of tax volunteer for the country/relawan pajak untuk negeri (Renjani) 2023 from the Central Directorate General of Taxation (DGT). Polibatam Tax Center achieved 91260 points in the Riau Islands DJP Regional Office, beating well-known campuses in Indonesia.

In an effort to increase tax awareness and support the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Mandiri program, Politeknik Negeri Batam Tax Center has officially become one of the leading partners of the Directorate General of Taxation (DGT) in the Renjani piloting program which will be integrated with MBKM Mandiri program in 2024. This program is a continuation of the piloting program which was previously implemented in early 2023 in 3 regional offices, including the Riau Islands DGT Regional Office, South Jakarta II DGT Regional Office, and South, West and Southeast Sulawesi DGT Regional Offices.

On this occasion, Polibatam Tax Center also received awards as the best Tax Center and Tax Volunteer in the 2023 Renjani piloting program. Polibatam Tax Center is also the only Tax Center among the Polytechnics throughout Indonesia, which is the leading partner of the DGT in the MBKM Mandiri program, in addition to Gunadarma University and Brawijaya University.

The ceremony was held at the Head Office of the Directorate General of Taxation in Jakarta on 19 September 2023. It was attended by Mr. Nufransa Wira Sakti as the Expert Staff to the Minister of Finance for Tax Supervision and Mrs. Inge Diana Rismawanti as the Head of the Tax Public Relations Sub-directorate. In receiving the award, Polibatam Tax Center was represented by Mrs. Arniati as the Chair of the Business Management Department and representative of the Polibatam Tax Volunteer, Aurum Cantika Sianggaran. Also present on this occasion was Mr. Asih Widhi Trisnadi, the Head of the Extension Guidance and Document Management Section of the Riau Islands DGT Regional Office.

“Tax Volunteer is a program from the Directorate General of Taxes in the context of tax education through third parties in collaboration with partner organizations/Tax Centers and involving students and non-students as presenters,” explained Widhi.

Meanwhile, Renjani is an online forum to accommodate tax volunteers to assist the DGP in tax education activities for taxpayers or prospective taxpayers, which can be accessed via the page https://edukasi.pajak.go.id/relawan. Tax volunteer activities include assistance with Annual Tax Returns, independent outreach (resource person, companion, supporter in creating tax material), BDS (Business Development Services) assistance, and disseminating tax content.

MBKM Mandiri is a form of encouragement for the Independent Campus policy, which encourages colleges to run the MBKM program independently without intervention from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). The MBKM Mandiri program can be a bridge to connect classroom learning with experience-based activities in the field. The integration of the MBKM Mandiri program and the Renjani piloting is expected to create a learning culture that is innovative, not restrictive, and helps as many students gain experience outside campus. This program aims to increase public knowledge, awareness, and concern about tax rights and obligations, increase taxpayer compliance with tax obligations, and increase cooperation and partnerships between DGT and universities.
