Supporting Local Workforce Readiness, Batam State Polytechnic Advances Migrant Centre Development

BATAM — Batam State Polytechnic (Polibatam) continues to support regional economic growth by preparing competent human resources for the workforce. As a vocational higher education institution in Batam, Polibatam seeks to connect industry needs with the availability of skilled and professional workers.

This effort was reflected in the Migrant Centre Development Coordination Meeting, held on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, at Polibatam’s Priyono Eko Sanyoto (PES) Building. The meeting discussed strategic steps to strengthen prospective workers’ capacity and competency standards, while reinforcing protection during the work preparation process.

Polibatam Director Bambang Hendrawan emphasized that the Migrant Centre should help prospective workers prepare comprehensively. “Work readiness depends on more than technical skills. Prospective workers also need to understand workplace standards, demonstrate professional ethics, and receive adequate information and protection. For this reason, developing the Migrant Centre requires coordination and collaboration among stakeholders,” he said.

Through the Migrant Centre and vocational programs tailored to industry needs, Polibatam aims to strengthen both technical skills and complementary soft skills. The preparation also covers mental readiness, work ethics, and the ability to adapt to diverse work environments.

The development of the centre is expected to support local workforce readiness and strengthen connections between vocational education, industry needs, and worker protection. Through this initiative, Polibatam seeks to continue contributing to the preparation of competent and competitive human resources for Batam and surrounding areas.
