Polibatam Students Win Bronze Medal at Mandalika Essay Competition 8

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the national level. This time, Polibatam students won a Bronze Medal at the Mandalika Essay Competition (MEC) 8, a national essay competition attended by 1,611 participants in 542 teams from various higher education institutions across Indonesia.

In the competition, the Polibatam student team successfully advanced to the final round after passing a rigorous selection process based on the assessment aspects and criteria set by the organizing committee. The final round of MEC 8 was held in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, from May 15 to 18, 2026.

This achievement was earned through an essay entitled “IoT-Based Nutrition Monitoring and Planting Time Determination System to Support National Food Security.” The work presented a technological innovation relevant to the issue of national food security, particularly in supporting a more effective, measurable, and sustainable agricultural process.

By utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology, the developed system focuses on monitoring plant nutrition and determining the right planting time. This innovation is expected to help improve the efficiency of agricultural management and serve as one of the solutions to support future food availability.

This accomplishment proves that Polibatam students continue to demonstrate their ability to produce innovative and solution-oriented ideas that meet society’s needs. Polibatam appreciates this achievement and hopes it will motivate other students to keep creating, innovating, and bringing pride to the campus at both national and international levels.

Warm Regards From Polibatam!
