Polibatam Strengthens Partnership with Changjiang Institute of Technology through the Development of the Green Program “Jingchu Workshop”

Batam, 9 February 2026 – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing internationally oriented vocational education through an official visit from a delegation of Changjiang Institute of Technology (CIT), China, and HOPE International Economic Cooperation (Wuhan) Co. Ltd.. The visit was held in conjunction with an acceleration meeting for the Green Project “Jingchu Workshop” at the Polibatam campus.

The CIT delegation was led by Chen Xin, Deputy Party Secretary, accompanied by Li Jiakun, Dean of the Faculty of Green Energy, along with professors and international affairs staff. HOPE International was represented by Tian Jun, General Manager, and Wahyu Widyasari, International Relations Manager. From Polibatam, the event was attended directly by the Director, Vice Directors, Heads of Departments, Heads of Study Programs, and the International Office team.

In his remarks, the Director of Polibatam stated that this visit holds strategic significance as it represents a reciprocal visit following the previous meeting at Changjiang Institute of Technology in September 2025. From that earlier engagement, Polibatam, CIT, and PT CCEPC, with the support of HOPE International, successfully implemented a two-week technical training and introductory Mandarin language program for Polibatam students, conducted from late January to early February 2026.

The training program adopted the concept of “Mandarin Language + Vocational Skills,” focusing on strengthening technical competencies in the energy sector, particularly boiler and steam turbine operations, as well as enhancing basic Mandarin communication skills. The program was directly supervised by experts from Changjiang Institute of Technology and attended by dozens of Polibatam students. As a result, students not only improved their technical competencies relevant to industry demands but also gained valuable international and cross-cultural learning experiences.

The Director of Polibatam emphasized that as a vocational higher education institution, Polibatam positions collaboration with industry and international partners as a key component of its institutional development strategy. Therefore, cooperation with CIT, PT CCEPC, and HOPE International is viewed not merely as ceremonial engagement, but as a long-term strategic partnership aimed at producing highly competent, adaptive, and work-ready human resources, particularly in the energy and applied technology sectors.

The visit agenda began with a tour of campus facilities and practical laboratories at Polibatam. This was followed by a joint meeting to evaluate the implementation of the recent training program and to conduct in-depth discussions on the development of the Green Program “Jingchu Workshop,” including the formulation of learning standards, development of teaching resources, and planning of future joint education initiatives.

During the discussion session, both parties also explored opportunities for developing collaborative education models, such as industry-based training programs, order-based classes (order class), and a proposed “1+1+1” joint education scheme integrating learning at Polibatam, study at CIT, and industrial internships with partner companies. This model is expected to become an innovative solution for preparing globally competitive vocational talents.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening coordination and communication between institutions to ensure the sustainability and tangible impact of the established partnership. Polibatam hopes that through this collaboration, the Green Program “Jingchu Workshop” will evolve into a center of excellence for Indonesia–China vocational education cooperation, while contributing to the development of human resources in sustainable energy.

Through this initiative, Politeknik Negeri Batam once again reaffirms its position as a vocational education institution that is open to international collaboration, responsive to industry needs, and committed to producing competent, professional graduates ready to face global challenges.
