Polibatam Inaugurates Its First Professor, Prof. Dwi Kartikasari, Strengthening Expertise in International Business
BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has once again marked an important milestone in the development of vocational higher education in Indonesia. For the first time in its history, Polibatam has officially inaugurated a Professor in the field of International Business, namely Prof. Dwi Kartikasari, Ph.D., S.T., M.B.A., AgilePM., EJLog., CLIP., CPFF.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, took place solemnly and became a historic moment for Polibatam in strengthening its academic role and scholarly contribution, particularly in the fields of international business, management, and the development of the global industrial ecosystem.
The event was attended by institutional leaders, members of the Polibatam academic community, invited guests from various universities, industry partners, as well as the extended family of Prof. Dwi Kartikasari. The presence of these distinguished attendees reflected strong support and appreciation for this remarkable academic achievement.
In her inaugural scientific speech, Prof. Dwi Kartikasari highlighted the dynamics of international business in the era of digitalization and globalization, including the challenges faced by local products amid the penetration of global products, particularly through e-commerce platforms and cross-border trade. She emphasized the importance of adopting the right strategies to strengthen the competitiveness of local products so they can survive and grow in the global market.
This study forms part of her academic contribution to enriching scholarly literature in the field of international business, while also offering strategic perspectives for the development of industry and digital trade.
As an academic actively engaged in research and scientific publication, Prof. Dwi Kartikasari focuses her studies on international business, consumer behavior, e-commerce, and strategies for strengthening local products in global competition. Her research provides not only theoretical contributions, but also practical relevance to the evolving dynamics of industry and digital trade, particularly within the ASEAN region.
In his remarks, the Director of Politeknik Negeri Batam expressed his gratitude and pride for this achievement. According to him, the inauguration of a professor marks an important milestone for Polibatam in strengthening the quality of education, research, and community service.
“Congratulations, Polibatam finally has a Professor. For a lecturer, the title of professor represents the pinnacle of an academic career, achieved through long-standing dedication to education, research, and community service,” he said.
He also affirmed that Polibatam will continue to support its lecturers in enhancing their academic capacity and in encouraging the emergence of more professors in the future.
