Polibatam and VMES 4.0 Establish an Innovation Center to Strengthen Vocational Industry
BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam), in collaboration with VMES 4.0, has established an Innovation Center as an industrial innovation hub on campus. The initiative provides real-world projects through an industry-based Project-Based Learning (PBL) approach in the manufacturing sector, including prototyping, automation, and production quality improvement.
The Technical Education program is designed to develop expertise in advanced technologies, including smart manufacturing, robotics, sensors, energy systems, and automation. In addition, the Training and Competency Program provides upskilling and reskilling opportunities for university students, industry professionals, vocational training centers, and vocational high school students.
Through applied research and technology, this collaboration emphasizes innovations that strengthen industrial competitiveness while delivering social benefits and supporting environmental sustainability. The initiative is expected to generate the following impacts:
Economic Impact: Improving production efficiency, accelerating industrial automation, and strengthening the competencies of the vocational workforce.
Social Impact: Providing real-world project experience and training to enhance the competencies of university students, vocational high school students, and industrial workers, while promoting greater social inclusion.
Environmental Impact: Implementing automation, the Internet of Things (IoT), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), robotics, and energy-efficiency technologies to support environmentally responsible industries and reduce material and energy waste.
This collaboration further strengthens Polibatam’s commitment to developing competent, innovative, and industry-ready vocational talents who are prepared to compete in the global industrial sector.
