Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Inaugurates Polibatam Migrant Center, The Global Talent Pipeline
BATAM – The Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Mukhtarudin, officially inaugurated the Polibatam Migrant Center, The Global Talent Pipeline, at the Technocentre Building, Politeknik Negeri Batam, 2nd Floor, on Monday, June 8, 2026. The inauguration marked a follow-up to the collaboration between Polibatam and the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI) in establishing an integrated service center to support Indonesian talents in preparing for global careers.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Director of Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan; Vice Director II of Polibatam, Arniati; Head of the Informatics Department, Ahmad Hamim Thohari; Head of Polibatam CDC, Siti Noor Cahyati; and representative of the Polibatam Senate, Meta Santiputri.
The Polibatam Migrant Center serves as an integrated service hub that supports, empowers, and protects prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) as well as Indonesian migrant workers. The services provided include information on overseas job placement opportunities, consultation and assistance, advocacy for pre-departure and post-return preparation, as well as training and certification for prospective migrant workers.
In his remarks, the Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers expressed his appreciation for Polibatam’s role in preparing competent vocational human resources who are relevant to industrial needs. He emphasized that prospective migrant workers must not only possess technical and language skills, but also understand official procedures, legality, and the protection rights they are entitled to.
“In addition to preparing technical and language skills, prospective workers must also understand licensing procedures and official requirements as migrant workers. This Migrant Center is here to guide them comprehensively,” he said.
The inauguration of the Polibatam Migrant Center is also part of the efforts to strengthen productive human resource development through the enhancement of foreign language competencies, professional skills, and understanding of global employment opportunities. Through this facility, students, alumni, and the wider community are expected to gain more targeted access to information and assistance before pursuing careers abroad.
The Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers also highlighted the importance of utilizing Indonesia’s demographic bonus by preparing young generations who are creative, innovative, ethical, and ready to compete globally. According to him, competency readiness and legal compliance are key factors to ensuring that Indonesian talents can work safely, professionally, and with dignity overseas.
Through the Polibatam Migrant Center, Polibatam further strengthens its role as a vocational higher education institution that creates impact for society, industry, and regional development. The presence of this service center is expected to open wider opportunities for Indonesian talents, particularly from Batam and the Riau Islands, to contribute at the global level.
