Higher Education Institutions in Batam Strengthen Commitment to Preventing and Handling Violence through the PPKPT Consortium

BATAM – On Friday, 12 June 2026, the Consortium for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education Institutions across Batam City was successfully held. This agenda served as a collaborative platform for higher education institutions to strengthen the implementation of prevention systems, case-handling mechanisms, and the evaluation of work programs carried out by the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Violence in Higher Education, known as Satgas PPKPT.

The activity marked an important momentum for higher education institutions in Batam to build a shared commitment to creating campuses that are safe, comfortable, inclusive, and free from all forms of violence. Through this consortium, each institution is encouraged to strengthen an integrated, transparent, and accountable collective protection network for the entire academic community.

This cross-campus collaboration also serves as a strategic step to ensure that efforts to prevent and handle violence are not only carried out within each institution, but are also strengthened through cooperation within a mutually supportive higher education ecosystem. Through this forum, higher education institutions can share experiences, align perspectives, and formulate more effective steps to create a safe and equal academic environment.

The activity was attended by representatives of leadership, lecturers, education staff, and PPKPT Task Force members from various higher education institutions, including Universitas Riau Kepulauan, Politeknik Negeri Batam, Institut Teknologi dan Bisnis Indobaru Nasional, Universitas Ibnu Sina, Universitas Putera Batam, Politeknik Pariwisata Batam, Universitas Batam, and Universitas Terbuka Batam.

The results of this collaborative agenda are expected to serve as the basis for joint recommendations from the PPKPT Task Forces across Batam City in strengthening an academic and student affairs ecosystem that is safe, equal, inclusive, and free from violence. These recommendations may later become a reference for strengthening policies, prevention programs, and more responsive handling mechanisms within higher education institutions.
