He Never Truly Left
He did not speak much.
But time remembers him.
June 30, 1957,
in the quiet town of Tanjungpandan,
he was born without noise,
just like the life he would later choose.
He walked far,
learning what it means to become,
not merely to exist.
Then he arrived in a city that was growing,
Batam—
and chose not just to be present,
but to plant direction.
He did not build buildings.
He built a future
that we now know
as Politeknik Negeri Batam.
He did not seek a name.
He planted meaning.
For years,
he worked in silence,
while many steps
grew from what he protected.
Until one morning,
that seemed like any other,
he returned.
And only then did we realize,
the one who made no noise…
was the one who guarded the most.
He never truly left.
He remains
in every step that is now more certain,
in every direction that is now clearer,
in every generation that grows
upon the foundation he quietly built.
And in hearts that slowly come to understand
that goodness
never needs a voice
to become eternal.
He may not have spoken much,
but his legacy remains.
Al-Fatihah.
