BOOM! POLIBATAM ANIMATION BRINGS HOME PRESTIGIOUS TITLES FROM MALAYSIA!

Johor, Malaysia – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has once again achieved a remarkable international accomplishment. Two teams from the Polibatam Animation Study Program, Team Revive and Team Ribbon, successfully advanced to the final round of the Hybrid Animation category at Anifest.edu@Johor 2026, held at Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS), Johor, Malaysia, on 14–15 September 2026.

At the competition, Team Revive proudly brought home two awards: 1st Runner Up in the Hybrid Animation Category and the prestigious Grand Innovation Award. This achievement reflects the creativity, quality of work, and capabilities of Polibatam Animation students in competing on the international stage.

Team Revive’s supervisor, Amirul Mu’minin, expressed his pride in the students’ achievement. The accomplishment was the result of their hard work, creative process, and strong commitment to developing high-quality animation works. Participating in an international competition also provided the students with valuable opportunities to test their abilities, broaden their experience, and gain greater insight into the development of the global creative industry.

Polibatam’s contribution to Anifest.edu@Johor 2026 extended beyond student achievements. Riki, Coordinator of the Polibatam Animation Study Program, was invited as a Keynote Speaker at the event’s main session. In his presentation, he highlighted the richness of Malay culture and its significant potential to be developed into world-class animation Intellectual Property (IP).

The wealth of Malay stories, characters, traditions, and cultural heritage offers strong potential to be transformed into animation works capable of reaching global audiences. Developing intellectual property based on local culture can also create broader opportunities for collaboration while encouraging younger generations to introduce their cultural identity through the international creative industry.

The achievements of Team Revive and Team Ribbon at Anifest.edu@Johor 2026 are expected to inspire other Polibatam students to continue creating, innovating, and confidently bringing their works to the international stage. This accomplishment also strengthens the role of the Polibatam Animation Study Program in developing creative talents who are competent and globally competitive.
