Polibatam Strengthens International Networks Through the Visit of the Ethiopian Delegation and PT Labtech
BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) once again demonstrated its commitment to expanding its global network by officially welcoming the Ethiopian Delegation accompanied by PT Labtech on Thursday, 26 February 2026. The strategic meeting was held in Room R301, 3rd Floor, Main Building of Polibatam, and was attended by 25 participants comprising members of the university management, representatives of the international delegation, and industry experts. This visit marked an important milestone in exploring cross-border collaboration opportunities in vocational education and human resource development aligned with global industry demands.
The discussion session, which took place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (WIB), focused on various potential technical and academic partnerships. Key topics included knowledge exchange, industry-based curriculum development, and the utilization of modern educational technologies supported by PT Labtech. The Ethiopian Delegation expressed strong interest in Polibatam’s applied education model, particularly its integration of industrial practices into the learning process to produce graduates who are job-ready and adaptable to technological advancements.
In addition to the discussion session, the delegation conducted a direct visit to several of Polibatam’s flagship facilities, including engineering laboratories, innovation centers, and project-based learning spaces. Through this tour, the guests were able to observe firsthand the industry-oriented learning ecosystem implemented at Polibatam, ranging from advanced laboratory equipment to collaborative learning systems involving students and industry partners. The visit provided a concrete overview of Polibatam’s readiness to support competency-based international cooperation.
In his remarks, a representative of Polibatam’s management emphasized that international collaboration is an integral part of the institution’s strategy to enhance global competitiveness. Synergy with overseas partners, including Ethiopia, is expected to create opportunities for lecturer and student exchanges, joint applied research initiatives, and industry-driven technical training programs. Technological support from PT Labtech further strengthens the potential implementation of innovative and sustainable collaborative programs.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to follow up on the discussed cooperation points through the development of concrete programs in the near future.
