POLIBATAM HOLDS ERP PUBLIC LECTURE, BRIDGING BUSINESS PROCESSES AND TECHNOLOGY

BATAM — The rapid development of digital technology requires students not only to understand business processes conceptually, but also to recognize how technology can integrate various organizational functions. Responding to this need, Batam State Polytechnic (Polibatam) held a public lecture entitled “ERP Implementation: Integrating Business Processes and Technology” on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

The event was conducted in a hybrid format, with an on-site session at the Polibatam Technopreneur Building and an online session via Zoom. Participants included fifth-semester students from Polibatam’s Managerial Accounting Study Program as well as selected students from Kupang State Polytechnic, creating opportunities for cross-campus learning and discussion.

The public lecture was part of the implementation of the 2026 Digital Learning Innovation (IPD) national grant program received by Polibatam. Through this program, learning activities are encouraged to become more adaptive, interactive, and relevant to technological developments and industry needs.

Polibatam invited two speakers who shared perspectives from both academic and industry backgrounds. Prof. Dwi Kartikasari discussed the conceptual framework of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and the importance of governance readiness in implementing ERP systems within organizations.

Meanwhile, Iswan Prima Kupuwono, a practitioner with more than 15 years of experience in ERP, shared insights into ERP implementation in the workplace. His session covered the integration of business workflows, the use of technology to improve operational efficiency, and the role of information systems in supporting decision-making processes.

The discussion was highly interactive, with students raising various questions related to ERP implementation challenges, integration between organizational functions, and human resource readiness in facing digital transformation. The combination of academic perspectives and practical industry experience provided students with a broader understanding of how ERP is applied in professional environments.

Through this public lecture, students are expected to gain a stronger understanding of the relationship between business processes and technology, particularly in the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning. The knowledge gained is also expected to help students strengthen their digital competencies and better prepare themselves for the increasingly technology-driven workplace.

The activity also reflects Polibatam’s commitment to providing vocational education that remains relevant to industry developments while strengthening academic collaboration with other higher education institutions in developing student competencies.
