Polibatam Celebrates Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day with Fun Competitions and a Green Campus Spirit

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) celebrated the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia by organizing a series of lively and engaging competitions. Carrying the spirit of togetherness, creativity, and environmental awareness, this year’s Independence Day celebration was not only an opportunity for entertainment, but also part of Polibatam’s efforts to strengthen its Green Campus initiative.

A variety of traditional and creative competitions were organized to encourage the participation of the entire Polibatam academic community in a joyful Independence Day atmosphere. The activities included catching small fish, candy-picking games, flour relay races, jumping according to instructions, cracker-fishing games, and fishing in the Polibatam campus pond.

Each competition brought its own excitement and challenges. Participants were encouraged to demonstrate agility, concentration, teamwork, coordination, and confidence while taking part in the various games prepared by the organizing committee. The festive atmosphere became even more vibrant with enthusiastic support and cheers from fellow participants and spectators.

One of the activities that attracted particular attention was the fishing competition held at the Polibatam campus pond. Participants had the opportunity to catch gourami fish, and any fish successfully caught could be taken home. In addition to creating a unique Independence Day experience, the activity also highlighted the use of the campus’ green spaces and environmental facilities.

The spirit of the Green Campus initiative was also reflected in the prizes awarded to the winners. One of the prizes was a chili plant grown through Polibatam’s Green Campus program. The use of plants as prizes symbolized how the spirit of independence can go hand in hand with environmental awareness and sustainability.

Through these activities, Polibatam not only brought excitement to the commemoration of Indonesia’s Independence Day, but also strengthened a sense of togetherness among the campus community while promoting collaboration, creativity, and environmental responsibility.

The celebration of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day at Polibatam is expected to serve as a meaningful moment to reinforce unity, mutual cooperation, creativity, and a shared commitment to creating a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus environment.
