IABEE Visits Polibatam, Strengthening Readiness for International Accreditation of Vocational Programs
BATAM — Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) welcomed a visit from the Indonesia Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE), represented by Berlian Kushari and Muhammad Romli, to review the institution’s overall readiness and management support for the implementation of IABEE international accreditation at Polibatam.
The visit was officially received by the Director of Politeknik Negeri Batam, Bambang Hendrawan, accompanied by the Vice Director I for Academic Affairs, Ahmad Riyad Firdaus, and the Vice Director III for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Muhammad Zaenuddin. Also in attendance were heads of departments and study programs, including the Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, Indra Hardian, the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department, Ari Wibowo, as well as the Head of the Informatics Department and all Heads of Study Programs (KPS) within their respective departments.
In his remarks, the Director of Polibatam reaffirmed the institution’s strong commitment to enhancing the quality of vocational education at an international level.
“Polibatam continues to strengthen the quality of academic governance and vocational learning to align with global standards. This visit from IABEE serves as an important milestone for us to ensure institutional and study program readiness in achieving international recognition,” said Bambang Hendrawan.
The meeting discussed the planned implementation of the IABEE international accreditation evaluation, including the mechanism for appointing two evaluator countries, which is scheduled to be finalized in June 2026. This year, IABEE targets two vocational education institutions, each preparing four study programs. In total, 82 study programs are currently being prepared, consisting of four Applied Bachelor (D4) programs and four Diploma Three (D3) programs.
The visit aimed to obtain a comprehensive overview of Polibatam’s readiness, particularly in terms of management support, consistency of accreditation documents prepared in Bahasa Indonesia, and compliance with IABEE standards and requirements. Through this process, it is expected that selected study programs at Polibatam may proceed to the observation stage and subsequently enter the international accreditation process.
IABEE also presented the proposed accreditation timeline, with the submission and initial process scheduled for April 2026, followed by the accreditation visitation planned for October to November 2026.

Through this visit, Politeknik Negeri Batam further reinforces its role as an adaptive vocational higher education institution with global competitiveness, committed to producing graduates who are competent, relevant, and internationally recognized.
