Head of the Center for Competitiveness and ASEAN Studies COCAS Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan, S.T., M.S.M., Becomes a Resource Person for the Batam, Bintan and Beyond: Riau Islands as Indonesia’s hotspot for Manufacturing and Digital Investments

NEWS – In the Webinar “Batam, Bintan and Beyond: Post-Pandemic Economic Strategy for Riau Islands“, key figures from the private and public sectors, along with academics from Indonesia and Singapore have gathered to discuss the economic dynamics of the Riau Islands and investment opportunities. The panelists offered their expertise on how Riau Islands’ economic policies and strategies can benefit potential investors from Singapore, Indonesia, and beyond. The webinar welcomes more than 200 participants from 16 countries.

Mr. Bambang Hendrawan, as the Head of the Center for Competitiveness and ASEAN Studies COCAS Polibatam and also as Deputy Director 2 Polibatam became one of the speakers in this webinar event. In his presentation, he said that “Riau Islands is the only province in Indonesia which has four Free Trade Areas[1] and three Special Economic Zones[2]. This facility will support business creation and investment in manufacturing, mining (bauxite), information technology, and tourism.”

Due to its proximity to Indonesia’s main trading partners, the Riau Archipelago is one of the country’s main manufacturing hubs with industry contributing more than 40% to its economy in 2020. The province is home to large industrial estates such as the Nongsa Digital Park and the Bintan-Batam-Zona Karimun Free Trade. In post-pandemic Indonesia, this province is a hotspot for foreign investment.

Hopefully with this event, all the potentials of the Riau Islands Province will increasingly become an attraction for foreign investors.
