Director-General of Vocational Education Encourages Implementation of PBL at Politeknik Negeri Batam

NEWS-The application of project-based learning (PBL) is one of the learning models that should be enacted in all vocational education units in Indonesia. This was asserted by the Director-General of Vocational Education Kemdikbudristek, Wikan Sakarinto, during the PBL Industrial Application workshop at Politeknik Negeri Batam, Riau Islands, on Monday (21/3/2022).

“Real PBL is one of the learning models that should be applied in all vocational education units in this country,” he said. “Albeit PBL already exists,” he added, “the education units have to continue in strengthening its implementation. Because real PBL is viewed based on industrial requests that are really required. “PBL is not just doing a project and then it’s finished, no. But how the implementation continues to be strengthened even though it already exists,” said Wikan.

Thus, he encouraged Polibatam to be able to properly implement the PBL so that later it could be felt by students and also this campus. On the other hand, Wikan said that vocational education is currently one of the government’s focuses in developing Human Resources (HR). For him, superior vocational human resources will have the potential to boost the improvement of the national economy and the nation’s competitiveness, therefore link and match will continue to be encouraged.

To note, the event was also attended by the Director of Batam Polytechnic, Uuf Brajawidagda S.T., M.T., Ph.D.; Chairman of the Indonesian State Polytechnic Director Forum (FDPNI), Dr. Ing. Ahmad Taqwa M.T.; officials within the Batam City Government and Riau Islands Province, businessmen, and industry representatives in Batam.

The Technopreneur Center building is used as a center for problem, project, and product-based learning activities at Politeknik Negeri Batam. Prior to the PBL discussion, the Director of Polibatam, Uuf Brajawidagda together with the Director-General of Vocational Education Kemdikbudristek, Wikan Sakarinto, and guests inaugurated the Polibatam Technopreneur Center building.
