48 Polibatam TRPE Students Begin Two-Semester Internship at PT BAI Bintan
BINTAN – A total of 48 students from the Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology (TRPE) Study Program at Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) have officially begun a two-semester internship program at PT Bintan Alumina Indonesia (BAI) in Bintan. The program is part of Polibatam’s commitment to strengthening industry-based learning while providing students with valuable hands-on experience in a real workplace environment.
The students were officially sent off to begin their internship on August 5, 2026. Throughout the program, the TRPE students will gain direct professional experience in an industrial setting by participating in activities relevant to the knowledge and skills they have developed during their studies.
The two-semester internship provides students with opportunities to go beyond classroom-based theory and campus practice. They will gain first-hand exposure to professional work standards, industrial culture, occupational health and safety practices, production processes, as well as the application of welding and fabrication technologies and competencies in the workplace.
“Alhamdulillah, this internship program is a tangible example of the strong collaboration between Polibatam and industry, particularly in areas related to the Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology Study Program. Through this opportunity, students can gain direct experience in an industrial environment while developing competencies that are aligned with workforce needs. We hope that the experience gained throughout these two semesters will provide a strong foundation for our students to become competent, professional vocational graduates who are ready to contribute to industry,” said the Director of Polibatam.
PT BAI’s involvement as an industry partner also reflects the strong synergy between vocational education and the industrial sector. Through this program, students are expected to strengthen not only their technical competencies but also essential soft skills, including discipline, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability in a professional work environment.
For Polibatam, the two-semester internship program is a strategic initiative to ensure that vocational education remains closely aligned with the evolving needs of industry. The experience students gain throughout their time at PT BAI is expected to serve as valuable preparation for entering the workforce after graduation.
The 48 participating TRPE students are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity by demonstrating professionalism, upholding the good reputation of their institution, and continuously developing their competencies throughout the internship period.
Through the continued collaboration between Polibatam and PT BAI, the internship program is expected to deliver mutual benefits for both institutions while contributing to the development of competent, industry-ready vocational graduates whose skills meet the needs of the workforce.
