STRENGTHENING PANDANG TAK JEMU MANGROVE ECOTOURISM THROUGH SERVICE STANDARDIZATION AND DIGITAL PROMOTION
BATAM – The 2026 Community Service Program team of Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam), in collaboration with the Pandang Tak Jemu Mangrove Ecotourism Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), is implementing a program focused on institutional strengthening, tourism service standardization, and the development of digital marketing and service systems in Kampung Tua Bakau Serip, Sambau, Nongsa, Batam City.
The program is designed to improve the partner’s readiness to manage the ecotourism destination in a more structured and professional manner. The initiative covers internal governance, visitor services, tourism product development, safety standards, as well as booking and visitor data management systems.
Using a co-creation approach, the program actively involves the Pokdarwis partner in the planning and development process. Through this collaboration, the team has developed five segmented eco- and edu-tourism packages, service, safety, and operational SOPs, as well as a destination catalog, brand kit, and media kit to support promotional activities.
Digital service development is also a key component of the program. An integrated booking system has been developed through the website, WhatsApp Business, digital forms, and QR codes. In addition, a visitor data dashboard and feedback system have been integrated into the website to support more systematic service and visitor data management.
To improve service quality on site, the program also provides service and safety signage along with safety and service kits. These facilities are expected to support the Pokdarwis in delivering more organized services while improving the comfort and safety of visitors to the Pandang Tak Jemu Mangrove Ecotourism area.
Beyond increasing destination promotion, the program aims to establish a more integrated service flow, covering the entire visitor journey from inquiry and booking to tourism services, transactions, feedback, and data recording. This system is expected to become an important foundation for developing community-based ecotourism management that is more adaptive, professional, and sustainable.

Through this Community Service initiative, Polibatam and the Pandang Tak Jemu Mangrove Ecotourism Pokdarwis continue to strengthen local community capacity while encouraging the use of digital technology to develop local tourism potential. The collaboration is expected to support the long-term sustainability of mangrove ecotourism while generating social and economic benefits for the surrounding community.
