Follow-Up to MoU, Polibatam and PT McDermott Indonesia Hold Tekla Training to Strengthen Students’ Competencies
BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) continues to strengthen its synergy with industry through the implementation of the Knowledge Sharing – Tekla Training program in collaboration with PT McDermott Indonesia. The program commenced on August 10, 2026, at Polibatam and is scheduled to run for 10 working days until August 27, 2026.
A total of 28 selected students from the Applied Bachelor’s Program in Ship Construction Engineering Technology and the Mechanical Engineering Program are participating in the training after completing a selection process. The program is one of the follow-up initiatives to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) established between Polibatam and PT McDermott Indonesia in 2025, reflecting a tangible collaboration between vocational higher education and industry to enhance students’ competencies in line with workforce demands.
Polibatam’s Vice Director III, Muhammad Zaenuddin, emphasized that collaboration with industry plays an important role in strengthening the connection between vocational education and the actual needs of the professional world.
“We hope that the Knowledge Sharing and Tekla Training program with PT McDermott Indonesia will provide students with meaningful hands-on learning experiences, strengthen their technical competencies, and broaden their understanding of industry standards and requirements. We also hope this collaboration will continue to grow and create more opportunities for Polibatam students to learn directly from industry professionals,” said Muhammad Zaenuddin.
The training is designed to equip participants with professional knowledge and skills in using Tekla Structures, a software platform widely used in design engineering, construction, energy, and various engineering sectors. Through this intensive program, participants will develop competencies in structural modeling and detailing while gaining exposure to professional practices and standards applied in industry.
In addition to developing technical proficiency in Tekla Structures, participants also gain first-hand insights from PT McDermott Indonesia professionals regarding current developments and competency requirements in the field of Design Engineering. This industry exposure is expected to further strengthen students’ readiness to enter the professional workforce upon completing their studies.
Prior to joining the training, prospective participants underwent a screening process conducted jointly with the Talent Acquisition (TA) and Detailing Engineering teams of PT McDermott Indonesia. The selection process was designed to ensure that participants demonstrated strong interest, relevant foundational competencies, and basic AutoCAD skills as a prerequisite for undertaking the intensive Tekla training program.
Through the Knowledge Sharing – Tekla Training program, Polibatam and PT McDermott Indonesia continue to support the development of young talents who are competent, adaptable, and competitive, particularly for careers in design engineering, construction, energy, and other engineering-related sectors. The collaboration also reinforces Polibatam’s commitment to delivering vocational education that remains relevant to technological advancement and evolving industry needs.
