Polibatam and PT KTU Shipyard Batam Strengthen Maritime Competencies through the Ship.IT Platform

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has established a strategic collaboration with PT Karya Teknik Utama (KTU) Shipyard Batam to develop Ship.IT, a maritime digital platform that connects cargo owners with vessel operators while integrating workforce management and industry compliance features.

The platform simplifies shipment management, route planning, and real-time vessel monitoring. Through the integration of workforce management and regulatory compliance modules, Ship.IT is expected to improve operational efficiency and transparency for vessel owners and clients while streamlining maritime business processes in Batam.

This collaboration also supports the development of Polibatam’s vocational human resources in shipbuilding, logistics, and information technology. At the same time, it strengthens collaboration between academia and the local maritime industry.

The Director of Polibatam emphasized that this partnership plays an important role in strengthening vocational competencies in the shipbuilding and logistics sectors, while preparing graduates to compete at both national and international levels.

Ship.IT supports route mapping, voyage planning, and real-time monitoring, contributing positively to maritime industry efficiency and the creation of local employment opportunities.

The collaboration also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.

Through this initiative, Polibatam and PT KTU Shipyard Batam aim to develop competent and innovative maritime vocational talents who are prepared to address the challenges of the global maritime industry.
