Polibatam Participates in the 22nd International CDIO Conference 2026 at the University of Liverpool, UK
LIVERPOOL, UK – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) once again demonstrated its global presence through its participation in the 22nd International CDIO Conference 2026, held at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, from June 22 to 25, 2026. This international conference is an annual agenda of the global CDIO community, bringing together higher education institutions to share best practices, learning innovations, and the development of education based on the Conceive, Design, Implement, Operate (CDIO) framework.
This year, the conference carried the theme “Enhancing Student Professional Development: Innovation in Assessment and Feedback” and was attended by more than 150 participants from 63 institutions across 27 countries. In this international forum, Polibatam became the only campus and polytechnic from Indonesia to participate. Polibatam was represented by Muhammad Arifin, Head of the Polibatam CDIO Taskforce and Coordinator of the Manufacturing Electronics Engineering Study Program.
During the conference, Polibatam presented two papers that had successfully passed the review process by CDIO reviewers. The first paper was titled “Impacts of CDIO Framework Implementation on Output Productivity and Interpersonal Skills Development,” with Hendawan Soebhakti from Polibatam as the corresponding author. The second paper was titled “Singapore Polytechnic and Polibatam Transnational Collaborative Student Project: Initial Exploration,” with Kim-Fai Soh from Singapore Polytechnic as the corresponding author.

One of the papers presented was the result of a collaborative project between Polibatam and Singapore Polytechnic. This achievement shows that the implementation of CDIO at Polibatam not only strengthens project-based learning, but also opens wider opportunities for impactful international collaboration for students, lecturers, and the institution.
Through this participation, Polibatam continues to strengthen its commitment as a vocational higher education institution that is adaptive, collaborative, and globally competitive. Polibatam’s involvement in this international conference is also part of its ongoing effort to expand international academic networks and enhance the quality of project-based learning implementation on campus.
Greetings from Polibatam!
