Tracing Indonesia’s Mineral Potential, Polibatam Metallurgy Students Learn Directly from an ESDM Expert
BATAM – The Metallurgical Engineering Technology Study Program of Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) held an online guest lecture on Thursday, 25 June 2026, from 19.00 to 21.00 WIB. This activity was part of the Mineral Exploration course series, aimed at broadening students’ understanding of Indonesia’s natural resource potential, particularly mineral resources, as well as the methods used to discover them through geophysical exploration.
The guest lecture featured Muh. Rizki Ramdhani, an Earth Investigator and geophysical exploration expert from the Center for Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal Resources (PSD-MBP), Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The event was also attended and officially opened by Eko Budi Cahyono, Head of the Prospecting and Coal Resource Reserve Evaluation Working Team at PSD-MBP. Hans Elmaury Andreas Siregar, an Earth Investigator from PSD-MBP, was also present. The session was moderated by Adhe Aryswan, Head of the Metallurgical Engineering Technology Study Program at Polibatam and lecturer of the Mineral Exploration course.
The guest lecture was attended by around 140 participants, mostly students from the Metallurgical Engineering Technology Study Program from both morning and evening classes. The students showed great enthusiasm throughout the session, particularly in learning how geophysical exploration plays an important role in mapping, identifying, and managing Indonesia’s mineral resource potential.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain a deeper understanding of geophysical exploration methods, expand their knowledge of natural resource potential, especially coal, and better recognize the role of metallurgy in supporting the national energy and mining sectors.

This activity also served as an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Polibatam’s Metallurgical Engineering Technology Study Program and PSD-MBP of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Polibatam hopes that collaborations between academics and practitioners like this will continue to enrich students’ learning experiences and motivate them to develop competencies that meet industry needs.
For members of the academic community and the public who wish to revisit the lecture, the recording is available on the YouTube channel of Adhe Aryswan, Head of the Metallurgical Engineering Technology Study Program at Polibatam.
Warm Greetings from Polibatam!
