Polibatam and PT Volex Indonesia Sign MoU to Strengthen Collaboration Between Vocational Education and Industry
BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) continues to strengthen its strategic collaboration with industry partners through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Volex Indonesia. The signing ceremony was held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the 3rd Floor Terrace of Polibatam’s Main Building.
The MoU was signed by the Director of Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan, and the Global HR Director of Volex, Alan Taylor. The event was also attended by representatives from PT Volex Indonesia and Polibatam, including Corin Wong, Irkham, Meilani, Firdaus, as well as related teams from both institutions.
This collaboration marks an important step in strengthening the relationship between vocational education and industry needs, particularly in developing student competencies, mapping technological requirements, and aligning the curriculum with the dynamics of the professional world.
During the meeting, Polibatam presented its vocational education framework, which is implemented through an engineering learning approach based on conception, design, implementation, operation, and continuous evaluation. In the early stages of study, students are equipped with fundamental skills, followed by Project-Based Learning (PBL), and later by industrial internship experience in the final year of their studies.
Through this collaboration, feedback from industry is considered an important part of the curriculum evaluation and development process. Polibatam and PT Volex Indonesia will prepare an industry feedback mechanism to support competency mapping, particularly in the mechanical and electrical fields.
In addition, both parties discussed potential collaboration in metallurgy, manufacturing, automation, robotics, CNC, stamping, bending, and forging technology. These fields are considered highly relevant to supporting industrial development needs, including PT Volex Indonesia’s plans to strengthen its facilities and technical capabilities.
Polibatam also presented its track record in implementing PBL with various industry partners. Several portfolios highlighted during the discussion included the development of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), information systems, operational support applications, water monitoring systems, and contributions to industrial digital transformation. Student achievements in robotics were also showcased as evidence of Polibatam’s innovation capacity.

In further discussions, Polibatam and PT Volex Indonesia also emphasized the importance of human resource readiness in responding to technological developments such as artificial intelligence, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), electric vehicles, and robotics. Both parties also explored opportunities to organize guest lectures, workshops, industrial case studies, and competency development programs that combine engineering fundamentals with future-oriented technologies.
Sustainability was also part of the discussion, particularly regarding byproduct management, material reuse, process innovation, and the circular economy. Through this approach, Polibatam and PT Volex Indonesia see opportunities for collaboration in applied research and PBL projects that support efficiency, innovation, and sustainable business goals.
As a follow-up to the MoU, both parties will formulate a more technical Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), which will include CSR scholarship programs for underprivileged students, internship opportunities, PBL project development, and other forms of collaboration that support the strengthening of vocational education and industry needs.
Through this collaboration, Polibatam hopes that its partnership with PT Volex Indonesia will provide tangible benefits for students, lecturers, industry, and the wider community. This collaboration also reflects Polibatam’s commitment as an adaptive and innovative vocational higher education institution that continues to deliver learning experiences relevant to industrial development.
Greetings from Polibatam!
