Polibatam Secures 5th Place at the International RoboRoarZ Singapore 2026 Robotics Competition
SINGAPORE — Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has once again achieved an impressive milestone on the international stage by participating in RoboRoarZ Singapore 2026, held on 22–23 January 2026 at the Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD), Singapore. The competition serves as a global platform for robotics excellence, emphasizing Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the application of cutting-edge technologies.
RoboRoarZ Singapore 2026 is an international robotics competition consisting of several leagues, including Junior, Senior, and Tertiary (Polytechnics and Universities). In the Tertiary League, the competition was joined by 39 teams from various countries, including Indonesia, the Philippines, India, Malaysia, Oman, and Singapore. Polibatam represented Indonesia alongside higher education institutions from across Asia and the Middle East.
The competition featured two main categories: the Autonomous Challenge (Physical Robotics Challenge) and the Simulation Challenge (Virtual). The Autonomous Challenge required participants to design, build, and program physical robots capable of completing missions independently, while the Simulation Challenge tested programming logic through virtual robots in a digital simulation arena. All matches utilized the Smorphi robot platform and were conducted at the Albert Hong Lecture Theatre and Multi-Purpose Hall, SUTD.

Politeknik Negeri Batam deployed two teams in the Tertiary League to compete in the Autonomous Challenge (Physical Robotics) category. As a result of the competition, one Polibatam team successfully achieved 5th place in the Physical Robotics Challenge, outperforming numerous teams from participating countries. This achievement demonstrates the strong international competitiveness of Polibatam students in the fields of robotics and programming.
The team supervisor, Eko Rudiawan Jamzuri, expressed his appreciation for the students’ dedication and hard work throughout the preparation and competition phases.
This achievement is the result of consistent training, solid teamwork, and the students’ courage to continuously experiment and refine their designs and algorithms. We are proud that Polibatam students are able to compete both technically and mentally at an international level, he stated.
Furthermore, participation in RoboRoarZ Singapore 2026 provided not only valuable competitive experience but also enhanced students’ soft skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and cross-cultural communication. This experience aligns closely with Polibatam’s vocational education approach, which emphasizes Project-Based Learning (PBL) and prepares students to face global challenges.
This achievement is expected to inspire the entire Polibatam academic community to further strengthen research, innovation, and participation in international competitions, while fostering the next generation of young innovators in technology and robotics from Polibatam.
