Polibatam Completes Strategic Research Collaboration with SIMCC Singapore

BATAM — Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) welcomed a delegation from the Singapore International Mastery Contests Centre (SIMCC) Singapore on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, at Room 302 of the PES Building. Coordinated by Polibatam’s Office of International Affairs (OIA), the meeting discussed opportunities for strategic cooperation and included a symbolic ceremony marking the completion of the Alibaba research collaboration.

The research collaboration, which began on 12 March 2026, involved more than 200 participants who contributed thousands of hours of voice recordings. The collected data will support the development of an artificial intelligence system managed by Alibaba, a leading technology company from China.

In addition to marking the completion of the research collaboration, the meeting explored potential cooperation in international competitions, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), the use of campus facilities, school network development, and internship and scholarship opportunities for Polibatam students.

Polibatam has the potential to serve as a venue for SIMCC assessments or competitions in Batam, which are expected to attract approximately 800 to 1,000 students. In addition to supporting SIMCC’s programmes, these activities would provide Polibatam with an opportunity to introduce its study programmes, learning facilities, and vocational education to prospective students.

SIMCC also introduced several international programmes, including the Singapore International Math Olympiad Challenge (SIMOC), STEAM Ahead Global Final, Singapore Invention Convention, and World Invention Convention. Through SIMCC’s international network, both parties will explore opportunities in internships, scholarships, competitions, and innovation development for Polibatam students and partner schools.

As a follow-up, SIMCC will provide its official programme schedule for 2027 by 1 November 2026. Polibatam and SIMCC will subsequently discuss the technical arrangements for using campus facilities, developing school networks, and involving Polibatam in international competition and innovation programmes.

Through this prospective cooperation, Polibatam continues to expand its global network and create broader access for students and partner schools to international education and development opportunities.
