SOARING HIGH! POLIBATAM DRONE TEAM WINS 3RD PLACE AT THE 2026 TNI COMMANDER’S CUP

JAKARTA – Students of Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) have once again achieved a notable accomplishment. The Polibatam Drone Team secured 3rd Place in the Agriculture/Agricultural Drone Category at the 2026 TNI Commander’s Cup Open Tournament for Drone Development, held as part of the 81st Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) in Jakarta.

The competition took place from 23–26 September 2026 at the Trimatra Stadium area of the TNI Doctrine, Education and Training Development Command (Kodiklat TNI). The event served as a platform for participants to develop and test drone technologies through a series of activities, including technical meetings, performance tests, field trials, winner announcements, and a Drone Festival. In addition to the agricultural category, the competition also featured drone applications for military operations, Search and Rescue (SAR), and aid distribution.

In the Agriculture Category, PT FROG Yogyakarta took 1st Place, followed by Politeknik Negeri Banyuwangi in 2nd Place, while Politeknik Negeri Batam secured 3rd Place. This achievement reflects the Polibatam Drone Team’s capability in developing unmanned aerial vehicle technology with potential applications in the agricultural sector.

Polibatam Vice Director III, Muhammad Zaenuddin, expressed his appreciation for the team’s achievement.

“We appreciate the hard work of the team in representing Polibatam at a national-level drone technology competition. We hope this achievement will motivate them to continue developing innovations that are not only competitive, but also capable of addressing the real needs of society and industry, including in the agricultural sector,” he said.

Participation in the competition also gave students the opportunity to strengthen their technical skills, innovation, teamwork, and ability to apply technology in real field conditions. The experience is expected to further enhance students’ competencies while encouraging the development of practical and relevant innovations for industry and society.

This achievement also strengthens Polibatam’s commitment to implementing Project-Based Learning (PBL), which encourages students to produce innovative, applicable, and impactful solutions through real-world projects.
