Polibatam Implements a Smoke-Free Campus Policy and Provides Designated Smoking Areas

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) continues to strengthen its commitment to creating a healthy, comfortable, and orderly campus environment through the implementation of a Smoke-Free Area Policy across the campus. This policy applies to all members of the academic community as well as visitors.

Under the established regulations, smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes are not permitted in undesignated areas within the campus. Polibatam has provided designated smoking areas at specific locations so that smoking activities can be carried out without disturbing the comfort and health of other campus users.

Polibatam’s Internal Security Officers (Pamdal) also actively monitor compliance with the policy. Anyone found smoking outside the designated areas may receive a warning as part of efforts to maintain order and raise awareness about the importance of a smoke-free campus environment.

In addition to receiving a warning, violations of the smoking regulations may also be subject to a fine of IDR 50,000, in accordance with the applicable provisions. The implementation of this sanction is expected to encourage greater compliance and promote more responsible use of shared campus facilities.

Polibatam encourages students, lecturers, educational staff, partners, and visitors to support the implementation of the Smoke-Free Area Policy. Those who wish to smoke are expected to use the designated smoking areas and help maintain the cleanliness and comfort of the campus environment.

Through this policy, Polibatam aims to create a healthier, safer, and more comfortable educational environment for the entire campus community. Individual awareness and responsibility are essential in building a disciplined campus culture while supporting a healthier lifestyle.
