FTMD ITB PROMOTES DOCTORAL PROGRAMS IN MECHANICAL AND AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AND EXPLORES ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH COLLABORATION AT POLIBATAM

BATAM – The Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD) of Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) visited Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) on Friday, June 12, 2026. Held at the Auditorium, Gate 5–6, 2nd Floor of Polibatam’s Main Building, the visit was part of FTMD ITB’s outreach program to introduce its doctoral programs while also exploring opportunities for collaboration in academics, research, and human resource development.

The FTMD ITB delegation was led by the Dean of FTMD ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermawan Judawisastra, M.Eng., accompanied by Dr. Arie Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Dr. Annisa Jusuf, S.T., M.T., Dr. Ir. Yazdi Ibrahim Jenie, S.T., M.T., and Febri Baskoro, S.Pd., M.Sc., Ph.D. The delegation was welcomed by Polibatam’s Vice Director I for Academic Affairs, Ahmad Riyad Firdaus, S.Si., M.T., Ph.D., together with members of the Polibatam academic community.

During the session, FTMD ITB presented its doctoral programs in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering. The presentation provided Polibatam’s academic community with further information on doctoral study opportunities, available areas of expertise, and opportunities to strengthen human resource capacity through advanced education.

The meeting also discussed potential collaboration between FTMD ITB and Polibatam in the fields of education, research, applied research, and innovation development. The discussions are expected to open opportunities for joint research, lecturer and researcher collaboration, and stronger academic networks between the two institutions.

The visit continued with a site tour of several key Polibatam facilities, including laboratories, the Chip Design Center, Schneider Innovation Corner, and Aircraft Maintenance Hangar. The tour provided the FTMD ITB delegation with a closer look at Polibatam’s learning, research, and innovation ecosystem, as well as facilities that could support future collaboration.

The visit to Polibatam was part of FTMD ITB’s series of visits to universities, polytechnics, and research institutions throughout June 2026. Through this initiative, FTMD ITB continues to strengthen its commitment to developing highly qualified human resources through doctoral education while expanding collaborative networks with educational and research institutions across Indonesia. The discussions between FTMD ITB and Polibatam are expected to serve as an initial step toward sustainable collaboration in education, research, and innovation that contributes to the advancement of science and technology at both national and international levels.
