Polibatam Officially Opens PKKMB 2026, Welcoming 3,566 New Students Ready to Shape the Future

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) officially opened the 2026 New Student Campus Life Orientation Program (PKKMB) on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. A total of 3,566 new students took part in the program as their first step toward becoming more familiar with the campus environment, learning system, study programs, and Polibatam’s vocational education ecosystem.

The opening of PKKMB 2026 marked an important milestone for new students as they began their academic journey. Through this program, students were not only introduced to campus life but also provided with an understanding of vocational education, which emphasizes competence, innovation, collaboration, and strong alignment with industry needs.

Polibatam Director, Bambang Hendrawan, stated in his remarks that Polibatam continues to grow in response to industry demands and technological developments. Over its 26-year journey, Polibatam has expanded from only three study programs in 2000 to 26 study programs today.

“Today, we are taking a small first step. In two, three, or four years, you will wear your graduation gowns. Throughout that journey, develop knowledge that is beneficial, create meaningful work, and be able to provide solutions for society and the industries of Batam City,” Bambang said.

He expressed his hope that new students would make the most of their college years by strengthening their competencies, building character, gaining broader experience, and producing works and innovations that benefit society.

Also present at the event was Firmansyah, Secretary of Batam City, who encouraged students not only to prepare themselves as job seekers but also to develop the courage and capability to become job creators.

He emphasized that Batam, as one of Indonesia’s strategic investment and industrial centers, requires competent and adaptive human resources with skills that are relevant to the evolving world of work.

The Batam City Government also continues to support broader access to higher education. In 2026, the city government awarded scholarships to 28 students from Batam’s hinterland areas and prepared additional scholarship support for high-achieving students from underprivileged families in accordance with applicable program provisions.

Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad, who officially opened PKKMB Polibatam 2026, stated that higher education serves as a place where students are shaped through knowledge, character building, experience, and the development of ideas.

He described the campus as a “kawah candradimuka”, an Indonesian expression referring to a formative place where individuals are prepared and strengthened before making meaningful contributions to society and industry.

New students were also encouraged to remain adaptive to rapid developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, digitalization, and other emerging technologies that increasingly influence education and the workplace.

The ability to continuously learn, adapt, and develop competencies is an important foundation for graduates to remain competitive and responsive to future changes.

Following the opening ceremony, the PKKMB 2026 program continued with various campus orientation activities. New students were introduced to Polibatam by the Vice Directors, as well as to their respective departments and study programs, along with a range of academic support services.

Students also attended a drug abuse prevention awareness session delivered by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) as part of Polibatam’s commitment to fostering a healthy, safe, and productive campus environment.

In addition, students were introduced to various learning support services and platforms, including the Academic Information System, Learning Management System (LMS), Talent Hub, as well as Polibatam’s official information and social media channels.

Through the PKKMB 2026 program, Polibatam hopes that new students will be better prepared to pursue vocational education, recognize opportunities for self-development, and begin building networks and meaningful experiences from the very start of their university journey.

Welcome, Politeknik Negeri Batam New Students of 2026.

It is time to begin a journey of learning, growing, innovating, creating, and making a meaningful impact on society, industry, and Indonesia.

Greetings from Polibatam!
