Polibatam Becomes a Priority Campus for Batam City Government Scholarship Program for Outstanding, Underprivileged, and Hinterland Students

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) has been selected as one of the priority campuses in the Batam City Government Scholarship Program, which is intended for senior high school and vocational high school students across Batam, particularly those from outstanding, underprivileged, and hinterland categories.

The program was introduced during the ceremonial endorsement and socialization of the Priority Programs of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Batam, held on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Crown Vista Hotel. The event was attended by the Mayor of Batam, Amsakar Achmad, and the Deputy Mayor of Batam, Li Claudia Chandra. Polibatam was represented by the Vice Director III for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Dr. Muhammad Zenuddin.

This scholarship program is an initiative of the Batam City Government as a concrete form of support for improving the quality of human resources and developing Batam’s young generation to be able to compete at national and international levels.

Polibatam was selected as a priority campus due to its strategic role in supporting the development of information technology and industry-based vocational education in Batam. In addition, Polibatam is the only state polytechnic vocational higher education institution in Batam City, with strong focuses on technology, digitalization, engineering, and innovation.

The selection of Polibatam is also in line with Batam City’s development direction, which is currently optimizing digital investment and strengthening the technology ecosystem in the Nongsa Digital Park area as one of Indonesia’s national digital economy and technology hubs.

During the event, Polibatam also opened an exhibition booth to showcase several outstanding products created by its academic community. The booth also served as a platform to introduce Polibatam’s New Student Admission (PMB) information to participants, especially senior high school and vocational high school students attending the event.

As a vocational campus that implements Project/Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate), Polibatam remains committed to producing excellent, adaptive graduates who are ready to meet the demands of global industries, particularly in the fields of information technology, artificial intelligence, multimedia, electronics, cybersecurity, manufacturing, and the digital economy.

This scholarship program is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for Batam’s young generation to pursue higher education while strengthening the readiness of local human resources to face industrial transformation and the digital era.
