Polibatam Welcomes Visit from Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe to Discuss SPMI Strengthening and the CDIO Learning Concept

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) welcomed a visit from Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The visit was held as part of a discussion and best-practice sharing session on strengthening the Internal Quality Assurance System, or Sistem Penjaminan Mutu Internal (SPMI), within vocational higher education institutions.

The delegation from Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe was led by the Vice Director for Academic Affairs and Information Systems, Mr. Muhammad Arhami, together with the team from the Center for Quality Assurance and Learning Development, or Pusat Penjaminan Mutu dan Pengembangan Pembelajaran (PPMPP), of Politeknik Negeri Lhokseumawe. The delegation was warmly received by the Director of Politeknik Negeri Batam, along with the Vice Directors of Polibatam and the PPMPP Polibatam team.

During the meeting, both institutions discussed various aspects of quality assurance implementation in higher education, including the preparation of SPMI documents, the implementation of Internal Quality Audits, SPMI evaluation, and strategies to strengthen a sustainable quality culture. The discussion served as a platform for both institutions to exchange experiences in improving academic governance and learning quality.

In addition to discussing SPMI strengthening, Polibatam also presented its CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate) learning concept, which has become one of the key approaches in the development of vocational education at Polibatam. Through this approach, students are encouraged to experience a comprehensive learning process, starting from conceiving ideas, designing solutions, implementing their work, and operating the outcomes in accordance with the needs of the workplace and industry.

Through this visit, Polibatam continues to strengthen its role as a vocational higher education institution committed to quality system development, learning innovation, and collaboration among vocational higher education institutions in Indonesia. This activity is also expected to serve as a momentum to expand institutional networks, share best practices, and jointly support the advancement of vocational education that remains relevant to current and future needs.
