Polibatam Compost House: Waste Management Innovation to Support a Sustainable Green Campus

BATAM – Politeknik Negeri Batam (Polibatam) continues to demonstrate its commitment to creating a green and sustainable campus through the development of the Polibatam Compost House, which serves as part of an integrated waste management system within the campus environment.

The Compost House functions as a processing center for organic waste generated from various campus activities, including food waste from the canteen, dry leaves, and other organic materials. Through a structured treatment process, the organic waste is transformed into compost that can be used to support campus greening efforts and garden maintenance.

The presence of the Compost House not only helps reduce the volume of waste disposed into the environment, but also represents a concrete step toward establishing an environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management system. This initiative is in line with Polibatam’s commitment to implementing the Green Campus for Sustainability program.
