Minister of Manpower Visits Polibatam: Time for Students to Become Future Talents!
BATAM – Polibatam had the honor of welcoming the Minister of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Yassierli, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., on Tuesday (24/02/2026). The presence of the Minister of Manpower in the Merah Putih Cabinet under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka was warmly received by the Director of Polibatam, Bambang Hendrawan, along with the management team.
The event, held at the Polibatam Auditorium, was also attended by officials from the Directorate General team and Directors of the Ministry of Manpower, members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), the Chair of PW PII, and the Chair of PC PII. This momentum served as a strategic platform to strengthen synergy between vocational education and the government in preparing excellent human resources toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
Student enthusiasm was extraordinary. A total of 500 students attended the event onsite at the Auditorium, while more than 1,000 students participated online through a live broadcast on PolibatamTV’s YouTube channel. This demonstrated the strong enthusiasm of Polibatam students in gaining direct insights into national employment policies from the Minister of Manpower.
In his remarks, the Director of Polibatam reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to fully support the Ministry of Manpower’s programs. Polibatam expressed its readiness to collaborate through various schemes, including LPK and other programs, to ensure that its graduates are optimally absorbed into the workforce and become productive and highly competitive professionals.
In the public lecture titled “Preparing Excellent Talents to Face Future Employment Challenges,” Prof. Yassierli emphasized that Indonesia is currently facing three major disruptions: digitalization and AI, the green economy, and demographic changes. He explained that although 92 million jobs may potentially be replaced by automation by 2030, 170 million new job opportunities will emerge, requiring digital competencies and future-ready skills.
“Polibatam students must become adaptive talents, continue learning, and possess a growth mindset. Do not fear technological change. Instead, you must lead the change. Sharpen your digital competencies and strengthen your human skills such as critical thinking and empathy, because these are what make you irreplaceable,” said Prof. Yassierli.
He also highlighted the importance of human skills amid technological advancement. The ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate empathy remains the main foundation for building a sustainable career. Students are encouraged not only to be spectators but to become key players in the continuously evolving industrial ecosystem.
As a concrete step, the Minister presented the National Internship Program targeting 100,000 bachelor’s and diploma graduates. This six-month program provides a monthly allowance equivalent to the minimum wage as well as employment social security coverage for fresh graduates. Through the platform maganghub.kemnaker.go.id, Polibatam students have significant opportunities to gain real work experience before fully entering the industrial world.
The Ministry of Manpower also strengthens its support through the Vocational Training and Productivity Centers (BPVP) and the development of Green Jobs sectors as a response to global economic transformation.
The event concluded with an interactive discussion session that opened new perspectives for students on strategies to become excellent talents in the era of transformation. This visit stands as concrete evidence of collaboration between vocational education and the government in building a productive, competent, and globally competitive generation.
